Long time, No see

I have actually had many, many ideas for blog posts in the last month.  However, life has prevented much participation on line.
I have found the huge Achilles' heel in homeschoooling a High Schooler.  It is almost impossible to navigate all the testing--PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc--to get him good scores for college.  (BTW, he did above average and high enough for just about every college entrance requirement the first time around.)  This year it was rounds of offers, decisions, financial applications, scholarship applications--all with deadlines.  Also, History Day through us for a loop.  In the meantime, I'm trying to finish my degree completion classes.  I've felt more stressed, more weary, more small than probably any other time in my life.

I am no longer planning on Homeschooling another High Schooler.  My #2 is now in public High School.  No, I don't believe he is getting as good an education, but I was tired of fighting to get him to do his work.  He still has issues that I am not equipped to handle, so now he is in school.  He is now a 4.0 student, which doesn't surprise me at all.  They do all their work in 45 minute increments--much easier to handle than our structure, or lack thereof, at home.  He wants to play a sport in High School and our homeschool cannot provide that.  Yes, there are some sports things in our area, basketball and soccer but both are cost prohibitive right now.

I am going to look into a scholarship at a local Catholic High School for #3.  He wants to be an actor and they do have a good drama department.  (I didn't do that with #2 because the Catholic High school could not offer us any money in the middle of the year and they don't have the computer program that #2 wanted to get into.)  I now believe I will leave all the hard work up to others for high school--all the testing and financial deadlines, etc.  Of course, there will still be work for me to do, but I am hoping it will be less stressful and distruptive.

Other than that I've wanted to write about Easter, about sola scriptura, about indulgences, about John 6, and many other things.  I've had lots of ideas, but I've had computer problems, History Day projects took up computer time when it was running properly, my degree completion classes, RE, getting my oldest into college.

I need to get back to real life.  My ambition to write a couple of Catholic Children's book has been on my mind again lately.  I'm trying to decide if I should keep them on the back burner or just start writing down ideas.  Well, I've got to study for my final.  Hopefully, I will be able to write here more often, and soon.
